Every Mind Matters NHS:

“It’s okay to put yourself first - It‘s very important that you do”
“Your mental health matters every single day, not just today”
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Between work, relationships, responsibilities and the pressure we put on ourselves, it’s easy to forget that we are human too. We all have days when we feel exhausted, anxious, sad or simply not ourselves and that’s okay.
Taking a mental health day isn’t giving up. It’s giving yourself permission to rest, recharge and breathe.
What is a mental health day?
A mental health day is time you allow yourself to focus on your emotional wellbeing without feeling guilty about everything else that needs doing.
Just as we take time off when we’re physically unwell, our minds deserve care and attention too. You don’t have to reach breaking point before you give yourself a break. Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is slow down.
Give yourself permission to rest: Have a lie-in, stay in your pyjamas or take a nap. You don’t need to be productive every minute of the day. Rest is not laziness. It is essential.
Step away from the pressure: Put your phone on silent, take a break from social media and give yourself some space from anything that feels overwhelming.
Do something that makes you happy: Read a book, watch your favourite film, listen to calming music, cuddle your pets or enjoy a comforting cup of tea. Little moments of happiness count. It can be free!
Let your feelings out: Write in a journal, have a cry, talk to someone you trust or simply sit quietly with your thoughts. You don’t have to pretend to be okay when you’re struggling.
Be kind to yourself: Speak to yourself as you would speak to your best friend. You deserve the same kindness, patience and understanding that you give to everyone else.

You don’t have to finish every task, make everyone happy or prove your worth before you deserve a break.
Your value isn’t measured by how much you achieve, how often you smile or how well you hide your struggles.
Some days, getting out of bed is an achievement. Some days, taking a shower, eating something or asking for help is enough.
Please remember that small steps are still steps forward.

If today feels heavy, please know that you aren’t alone. You are not a burden, you are not a failure, and you are not weak for finding things difficult.
You don’t have to figure everything out today. Take life one moment at a time, and allow yourself to feel whatever you need to feel.
If your struggles are becoming difficult to manage, reaching out to someone you trust or a mental health professional can help. You deserve support, not judgement.
“You don’t have to shine brightly every day. Sometimes, simply keeping your little light glowing is enough”
“Your sparkle hasn’t disappeared just because you’re having a difficult day. Sometimes, it simply needs a little extra love, patience and care”
So today, take a breath. Slow down. Put yourself first.
I just wanted to let you know you're not alone and that you are strong. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and there are a lot of self help and professional help out there, all you need to do is reach out.
I hope you're ok and that you recover quickly, I know it's tough right now but people care about you and you can overcome this with a little help.
With love,
