There are days when getting out of bed feels impossible. Days when everything feels too heavy, your thoughts feel too loud and you wonder how you’re supposed to keep going when you don’t even have the energy to take the next step.

If you’ve ever felt like this, please know something important:

You don’t have to figure out your whole life today. You don’t even have to think about later. Just stay in the moment. Sometimes, you only need to get through the next hour. The next ten minutes. The next breath and that’s enough.

We often put so much pressure on ourselves to be strong. We’re expected to keep working, keep smiling, keep showing up, keep replying to messages and somehow keep everything together.

You’re allowed to have days when you’re exhausted. You’re allowed to cry. You’re allowed to say: Today is really hard. Having a difficult day doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’re struggling and struggling doesn’t make you weak. You are human, not a machine.

When everything feels overwhelming, don’t think about everything you need to do.

Don’t think:

“How am I going to get through this week?”

Think:

“What do I need to do in the next ten minutes?”

Maybe it’s:

Getting out of bed

Drinking a glass of water

Opening your curtains

Having a shower

Eating

Changing into clean clothes

Sitting somewhere comfortable

Texting someone you trust for help

Taking a few slow breaths, calm

These things might seem tiny, but when you’re struggling, tiny things can be huge achievements. Trust me...

You don’t have to climb the whole mountain today. Just take the next step.

When you’re in the middle of an incredibly difficult moment, it can feel like you’ll feel that way forever, but thats not true. A terrible morning can become an okay afternoon. An awful day can become a better tomorrow. You don’t need to know exactly when things will change. You just need to give yourself the opportunity to find out.

On difficult days, lower the expectations you have for yourself. Maybe today isn’t the day to clean the entire house. I know you want to but it’s not the today. Maybe you don’t need to answer every message. Maybe dinner can be something incredibly simple. Maybe even a takeaway? Maybe your only goal is to shower and get back into bed. That’s okay!

Rest isn’t laziness
Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish
You don’t need to earn rest by completely exhausting yourself first
Talk to Someone:

You don’t have to carry everything alone. If you’re struggling, tell someone. They will help you! You don’t need to have the perfect words. You could simply say:

“I’m having a really difficult day and I don’t want to be alone, please could you help me.”

You might be surprised by how much lighter things can feel when someone else knows what you’re carrying and if the person you tell doesn’t understand immediately, please don’t take that as proof that nobody cares. Keep reaching out. You deserve support. Please do this.

Give Yourself Something to Look Forward To:

When life feels overwhelmingly difficult, give yourself something small to look forward to. It doesn’t have to be something huge. Maybe it’s your favourite takeaway. A film you’ve been wanting to watch. A walk somewhere beautiful. Seeing your favourite person. Buying yourself a little treat. A cosy night in. A new book - I recommend my book? 🤭🫶🏻✨ Or even your morning coffee/drink of choice.

Sometimes the smallest things can become little anchors that help us get through difficult moments. You don’t need a huge reason to keep going. Sometimes one small reason is enough for today.

🫶🏻 Remember How Far You’ve Already Come:

Think about everything you’ve survived that you once thought you couldn’t. Wow look at that! There were probably moments when you wondered how you’d ever get through them and yet… LOOK you’re here. You’ve made it through every bad day you’ve had so far. That doesn’t mean everything will always be easy. But it means you’ve already proven that you can survive difficult moments. Give yourself credit for that because thats pretty impressive…

If all you manage today is to breathe, drink some water and make it through the day, that is still something worth being proud of.

Tomorrow doesn’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to have your whole life worked out. You just need to give yourself another chance to see what tomorrow brings. Just look after you to be the best you can be.

✨A Little Reminder From:
Me Rachel: Let Your Sparkle Shine✨

You may not be able to see your sparkle right now, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone. Sometimes your sparkle gets buried underneath exhaustion, sadness, anxiety and everything life has placed on your shoulders.

Your light is still there. So take a breath. Take the next tiny step. Be gentle with yourself and remember:

You don’t have to shine brightly every day. Sometimes simply keeping your sparkle alive is enough ✨

If today is one of those days where you feel like you might hurt yourself or you don’t feel safe, please don’t face it alone. Reach out to someone you trust or contact emergency/crisis support in your area. You deserve immediate support, care and someone beside you.

✨ Keep going and shine bright ✨

Not because you have to have everything figured out, but because you are smashing it. Look at your shine!
