There is something beautiful about watching a plant grow. When we buy a new plant, we don’t expect it to bloom overnight. We place it somewhere safe, give it sunlight, water it regularly, and patiently wait. Some days it looks like nothing is happening. Then, almost without noticing, a new leaf appears. A tiny bud forms. Before long, it’s flourishing. It turns into something beautiful. A flower blooms. Colour appears. Yet when it comes to ourselves, we often expect instant growth. We compare our journey to everyone else’s. We forget how much we’ve already survived. We have forgotten what we have already been through.
The truth is, healing works much like growing a plant. Whether you’re healing from anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, illness, burnout, or simply trying to become the person you want to be, progress isn’t always visible. Some days you’ll feel like you’re taking two steps backwards. Some days just getting out of bed is your biggest achievement.
That’s okay! We are not machines.
The strongest roots grow quietly beneath the surface before anyone sees the flowers.

Looking at the three little plants reminds us that no two journeys are the same.
One may need more sunshine ☀️
Another needs extra water 💦
🏃🏼♀️ One may bloom quickly, while another takes months 🐢
People are different and that’s normal. Your healing doesn’t have to look like someone else’s. You don’t need to meet anyone else’s timeline. Your only job is to keep showing up for yourself in the ways you can.
Sometimes that means:
- Drinking a glass of water.
- Going for a short walk.
- Asking for help.
- Resting without guilt.
- Celebrating tiny victories.
Small acts of self-care grow into big changes over time.
The words “Be gentle with yourself. You are growing into something you have not been before” are a reminder that you’re becoming someone new. Growth isn’t about becoming perfect.
It’s about becoming stronger.
Kinder.
Wiser.
More resilient.
Every challenge you’ve faced has shaped you into the person you’re becoming today.
Even if you can’t see it yet, you’re changing.
Your Sparkle Has Never Left
There may be days when your sparkle feels hidden. Life can cover it with stress, pain, self-doubt, or sadness. But hidden doesn’t mean gone. Just like a flower waiting for spring, your sparkle is still there, waiting for the right conditions to shine again. One day you’ll look back and realise how far you’ve come. The days that felt impossible made you stronger. The tears watered the roots of your future. The patience you gave yourself allowed something beautiful to grow.
So today, remember this:
You are not behind
You are not failing
You are growing
Take your time. Keep watering your dreams. Rest when you need to. Celebrate every small step forward.
Because once you transform, your sparkle won’t just return, it will shine brighter than ever.
✨ Be kind to yourself today. The person you’re becoming is worth waiting for.
All the best,
Rachel Spooner 🫶🏻
